Roman numerals are a system of numerical notations used by the Romans. It is based on letters which are assigned values as numerals.
Roman numerals cannot be negative or zero. Multiple symbols may be combined to produce numbers.
Lowercase letters are used to represent large numbers. This is not standard practice. Often a bar is placed above a Roman digit to indicate that is 1000 times larger than normal.
