Decibel is a quantitative measure of sound intensity, measured in twelve-tone scale (dBA). Decibel is a ratio that can be used to compare the intensity of different sounds, it can be used to measure the duration and frequency of sounds, etc.
The decibel calculation formula is: decibel (dB) = 10 x log2 (sound pressure level/reference sound pressure level). Sound pressure level is a unit of measurement for sound intensity. It refers to the pressure level generated by sound in the air. The unit is Pascal (Pa). The reference sound pressure level is a specific value, generally 20μPa.
Using the decibel calculation formula to measure the intensity of sound allows us to more accurately understand the size of the sound, allowing us to better control and manage it.
